Compliance Officer I

Duties:
  • Investigates violations of DSWA's regulations Inspects collection vehicles, landfill sites and solid waste
  • Responds to and documents complaints
  • Keeps written records of all investigations, inspections, violations and complaints
  • Assists initial and follow-up investigations of possible violations of DSWA's regulations
  • Assists with inspections of collection vehicles, waste loads, disposal sites and any other applicable violations
  • Responds to complaints received by the DSWA
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Effective solid waste licensing and solid waste screening program with minimum of violations
  • Documents findings of all investigated complaints
  • Prepares written reports of all inspections, investigations, and complaints received
Qualifications:

 

High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year's experience with
investigative or inspection work. Possession of a valid drivers license. Ability to
communicate orally and in writing. Training, knowledge and experience of
applicable computer software is required. Ability to use cameras and related
equipment.

Landfill Operations Foreman

Full Time

Location: Georgetown/SSWMC
Duties:

 

*          Supervise landfill support personnel including Landfill Equipment Operators, Landfill Operator/Mechanic, Skilled Laborers, Laborers and contractors
 
*          Operate all heavy equipment including, but not limited to, landfill compactors, bulldozers, motor graders, hydraulic excavators, backhoes, loaders, etc.
 
*          Prepare reports and oversee the completion of reports by subordinates
 
*          Directs and assist in the maintenance and repairs of equipment
 
*          Prepare staff evaluations
 
*          Order materials and supplies
 
            Perform related work as required

 

Qualifications:
Possession of high school diploma or equivalent. Possess a Commercial Driver’s License CDL class "B" or obtain within probationary period. Possession of Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) certification or obtain within probationary period. Four (4) years preferred, two (2) years minimum equipment operator experience. Four (4) years preferred, two (2) years minimum of supervisory experience. Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with Laborers, Skilled Laborers, Heavy Equipment Operators, Mechanics. Knowledge of safety procedures including safety training as required. Available to work variable schedule including Saturdays.

Weighmaster I

Full Time

Location: Delawrare Recycling Center New Castle
Duties:
  • Question facility users and visually inspect vehicles, communicate with drivers to determine the load and where it came from.
  • Operate computer and truck scales located at facilities
  • Determine waste, product, or construction material classification and destination (as applicable), and compute charges for each vehicle weighed
  • Direct users to disposal sites
  • Provide information and assistance regarding rules, regulations and operating procedures
  • Open and close scalehouses to insure the security of scalehouse equipment;
  • Maintain records and logs of facility and weighing activity as required
  • Answer phones in a courteous manner;
  • Maintain reliable attendance record
  • Classify as “essential personnel”
  • Maintain equipment related to scalehouse operations as instructed
  • Identify and communicate possible coding errors seen on daily printout
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work environment
  • Deliver paperwork, supplies, and other materials between DSWA sites as directed
Qualifications:

Possession of high school diploma or equivalent and ability to work with weigh scales and computers.  Training, knowledge and experience of applicable computer software preferred. Eligibility for a valid Weighmaster License as issued by the Department of Agriculture, State of Delaware, at the time of application and possession of such license at the time of appointment. Quality customer service skills required.
